Director, Supply Chain & Distribution Fertilizer Industry

Tampa, FL (Relocation Provided)

The Director of Supply Chain & Distribution is responsible for strategy and execution from raw material procurement to finished product distribution. This role will lead the supply chain team and ensure that the company is properly positioned both with physical assets and strategic transportation partnerships to seamlessly execute on production and customer order fulfillment and long-term volume growth at double digit multiples.

This position reports directly to the VP of Operations with a dotted line to the VP of Market Development & Sales.

Working Conditions

  • 65% of work performed in a Tampa based office environment
  • 35% of work performed while traveling: at meetings and in field locations with employees, co-workers, customers and other associates
  • Ability to work irregular hours, days, evenings and sometimes weekends
  • Ability to travel by car and plane
  • Must be able to legally work within United States

The Hiring Company

The hiring company designs, builds and sells a new generation of water treatment systems a nutrient recovery solution that creates value from waste by removing nutrients from municipal and industrial wastewater and transforming them into revenue-generating, environmentally-friendly commercial fertilizer. Along with helping the treatment facilities reduce operating costs and meet increasingly stringent environmental regulations, their process recovers and transforms critical nutrients such as phosphorus and nitrogen into a slow-release fertilizer that our client markets and sells, providing cost savings and a new stream of revenue for municipalities.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety processes/procedures are developed, implemented, evaluated, and improved on a continuous basis
  • Lead the company`s supply chain team from procurement of raw materials to distribution of finished products
  • Develop North America warehouse footprint that will allow for near-term shipment success and long-term volume growth success, while at the same time maximizing profitability
  • Develop logistics strategy including, but not limited to, bag/bulk handling, truck/rail/barge/container shipment.
  • Develop and negotiate contracts with raw material, transportation, and storage suppliers
  • Ensure product is properly positioned in warehouses to execute on all forecasted demand without incurring sub-optimal freight costs
  • Develop relationships with raw material suppliers & demand forecasting process to ensure uninterrupted supply to production facilities
  • Communicate and appropriately escalate all supply chain related business activities that will impact volume growth and profitability
  • Develop supply chain team talent, ensuring all members of the team have regular performance reviews, goal setting, and skill set enhancement discussions
  • Provide guidance/support as needed for all quality claims involving transportation and/or warehousing issues
  • Assess & recommend the optimum balance between cost and business risk exposure
  • Support due diligence of partnerships, mergers, and acquisition opportunities


  • 15+ years experience in supply chain with terminal & freight provider management experience for bulk material
  • People leadership experience (internal employees)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent computer/analytic skills in Windows including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Skilled negotiator with proven results
  • 4-year college degree
  • Adept in analyzing business requirements and delivering operable solutions
  • Significant experience in developing, implementing, and continuously monitoring safety systems
  • Prior working experience with regulations related to the transportation, storage, and sale of fertilizer or similar
  • Deep understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning system(s)

University - Bachelor`s Degree/3-4 Year Degree
