Materials Development Formulator DTM/TC

Job Location: Greenville, SC

Shift: Full Time

Statement of Function:
This individual performs routine materials R&D work requiring application of standard design techniques, procedures, and criteria.

Principle duties (not all inclusive):
- Complete Phase 1 and Phase 2 of metier certification process, which involves materials design school completion.
- Write specifications, formulae and/or material consignees for approved production and development semi-finished materials.
- Identify, research and develop new materials or processes that can improve performance, cost, and/or quality of the tire.
- Facilitate the industrialization of new materials and processes for tire applications. Coordinate with CT, UOT's, and Service Groups to meet this end.
- Lead balise and market affairs limited to North American geographic zone (following completion of Phase 1 metier certification process).
- Coordinate with external suppliers, universities, and other outside entities for the identification, research, and development of new materials for tire use.
- Provide support and expertise to all external groups (CT, UOT, Service Groups) for maintenance of current tire components and manufacturing processes.
- Participate in RMST or Equipe Produit teams.
- Propose innovations to make breakthrough performance level and/or competitive offer level changes.
- Identify new material and process technology needs for future developments.
- Coordinate/communicate with CT counterparts in France and Asia to achieve goals.
- Teach courses on materials and materials processes.

Requirements:
- BA/BS, MS, or PhD degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
- Good problem solving skills
- Good teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Good communication and facilitation skills
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications
- Must be willing to travel (domestic and international).
