A rapidly growing doctoral-granting Catholic institution founded around a dual core of Nursing and Education is seeking a dynamic, visionary servant leader committed to excellence in nursing education, faculty recruitment, and program development. The explosive growth of our CCNE-accredited nursing programs requires an experienced educator, researcher, and entrepreneurial administrator, capable of leading scholarship, innovation in curriculum development, and in health care programming. The Dean will provide organizational strategies for the management of growth and change in an expanding nursing education environment and help determine its future direction. This leader will be uniquely qualified to represent the continuing evolution of the role of nursing practice in the delivery of accessible, quality health care for diverse populations. The Dean will provide leadership in the implementation of a values-based educational environment for students and faculty of Marian University. The right individual will be able to share our core values of community, learning, service, social justice and spiritual traditions.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Dean will be responsible for leadership in the administration and management of all nursing programs including a Master of Science in Nursing (Adult Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Educator) and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Basic and RN-BSN/MSN). Total Nursing enrollment is approximately 600 students. The Dean of Nursing is responsible to the Vice President for Academics at Marian University.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Act as educational leader and administrative officer to promote and support program and curriculum development, implementation, evaluation, and revision.
2. Provide leadership, direction, and feedback to faculty as necessary to achieve program outcomes.
3. Implement strategies to recruit, employ, and retain faculty.
4. Cultivate and educational environment that is respectful of students while simultaneously maintaining high standards.
5. Advocate for community health care trends and issues.
6. Participate in a liaison, support, and advisory capacity to the Vice President of Academics.
7. Represent Marian University as an active member of nursing organizations at the local, state, and national levels.
8. Cultivate partnerships to promote quality health care and nursing education involving businesses, health care and educational institutions.
9. Communicate with accrediting bodies.
10. Collaborate with student and instructional support services.
11. Developing and administering a budget that supports and aligns with the goals and objectives of the School and University.
12. Expanding and diversifying funding source in collaboration with Institutional Advancement through external and internal avenues.
13. Provide or support research and scholarly activities within Nursing.
14. Maintains a positive work environment by cooperating in a professional manner with the University Community.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Doctoral degree in nursing or related field. Master of Science in Nursing. Licensure or eligibility for licensure in Wisconsin. Must have completed at least 5 years of full-time teaching in a baccalaureate and/or master’s nursing program; demonstrated record of administrative leadership in a baccalaureate and/or master’s program; demonstrated commitment to scholarly activities; and secured previous grants. Willingness to support the Mission and Core Values of the University.
