Job Description:
Utilize CATIA V5 and Solidworks to perform mechanical and structural design functions associated with the aircraft and automotive industry. Provide technical direction to apprentice engineers. Develop complex mechanical and structural designs. Perform basic mechanical and structural analysis using classical methods and tools. Develop design layouts, technical design criteria standards, drawings, reports, work statements, work hours estimates, and performance schedules to meet client requirements. Interface with client and client’s representatives on behalf of KTM SOLUTIONS, INC. Support the testing and certification of all designs. Present design concepts and finished designs to clients. Utilize the principles of systems engineering in the development and management of specifications and customer technical requirements.
Autonomy:
Works independently, requiring infrequent supervision. Provides guidance to junior engineers and is instrumental in the design and development of company technical policy and organizational goals.
Impact:
Frequent contacts with industry peers, clients, client representatives, and decision makers regarding technical performance and progress, contractual performance and issues, and follow on work requirements. Conducts technical briefings and meetings for both internal and external consumption.
Typical Minimums:
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, or Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university or college. Ten years design or structural analysis experience in the aircraft or automotive industry. 5 years CATIA V5 and Soldiworks experience or equivalent demonstrated ability of other parametric CAD systems.
Preferences:
Professional Engineering Registration in South Carolina. 5 years experience with composite material design.
