Position Summary:
Work as part of an Environmental, Health and Safety team providing environmental engineering support and assistance to the INVISTA Polymers and Resins manufacturing facility in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The role is primarily responsible for ensuring the site is in compliance will all Clean Water Act, RCRA and DOT requirements. Responsibilities include environmental communication, constraint development, change management, compliance assurance, and training. Responsibilities generally include:
•Lead and maintain RCRA, Clean Water Act, and Department of Transportation compliance for the site. Includes developing, executing, and/or maintaining site procedures, permits, training, etc. to ensure compliance in these areas
•Maintain all federally mandated programs such as Spill Prevention Control & Countermeasure, Storm water Pollution Prevention Plan, Waste Minimization Plan, Hazardous Waste Contingency Plan
•Coordinate with Utilities WWTP personnel to maintain proper operations, required monitoring and documentation to ensure compliance with site’s NPDES permit requirements
•Communicate with site to address issues and questions regarding RCRA, CWA, DOT
•Participate in the development of environmental constraints during the negotiation of permits and permit authorizations
•Identify training required for RCRA, NPDES, SPCC, Hazmat, and DOT and implement training as needed to operations personnel
Minimum education and skills:
•BS Degree in Environmental, Chemical Engineering or related degree
•5+ years experience in managing compliance for water and waste sources, including documenting regulatory applicability determinations, verifying process streams, understanding mitigation and controls devices, and performing compliance monitoring at a large industrial chemical or refining facility.
•Practical experience developing, implementing, and maintaining federally mandated programs such as SPCC, SP3, Waste Minimization Plan, and Hazardous Waste Contingency Plan
•Knowledge of federal and state laws governing DOT regulations
•Experience with reports to state and federal agencies.
•Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
•Demonstrated analytical skills and ability to manage multiple activities at the same time.
•Demonstrated Working knowledge of PC-based software (Word, Excel, Access, etc.).
Must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future.
Preferred:
•South Carolina regulatory knowledge and experience in all aspects of RCRA and CWA
•Experience in RCRA, CWA, and DOT focused work
Physical Requirements
•Must be able to view job sites in the field
•Must be able to climb stairs and ladders in an operating unit
•Must be able to work extended periods of time within ergonomic guidelines on computer (i.e. data entry)
•Ability to work in all weather conditions for various periods of time
•Ability to work in a tobacco-free environment
Work Hours/Shift:
Mon-Fri 40 hours+/week with some off-hour duty responsibilities
