Description
HR Anew is a human resources consulting and professional services firm located in Columbia, MD. We help employers recruit, educate, and retain employees. Our progressive and entrepreneur-spirited non-profit client seeks full and part-time CNAs to work at a 183-bed nursing home in Washington, DC.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist residents with or carries out assigned personal care activities.
  • Makes beds; straightens resident counters and cabinets, night stands, organize toiletries and requisites supplies.
  • Assists the resident with or carries out specific, delegated nursing intervention related to the prescribed diagnoses, therapy and rehabilitation measures for the resident.
  • Pass trays/assists with feeding.
  • Hydration Program.
  • Packs/Unpacks residents’ belongings, completes inventory sheet, and takes belongings to storage.
  • Sterilizes equipment (bedpans, etc.), cleans geri-chairs/ wheelchairs post meals, cleans tube feeding poles, razors, restock towels/washcloths on shelves in bathing rooms, and restock blanket warmers.
  • Transports residents (no lifting).
  • Makes sure call lights are accessible to residents.
Requirements
Education
  • HS graduate or equivalent with the ability to speak, read, and write in English.
  • Graduate from accredited/approved Nurse Aide’s with a current license/certification to practice as a CNA in the District of Columbia.
  • Current CPR certification

Skills
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and work productively with others. Ability to work with geriatric population.
  • Use of exceptional interpersonal skills when dealing with geriatric patients. Excellent oral, written, and organizational skills required. Able to multi-task, be flexible, maintain confidentiality, and function with ethics and integrity.
  • Must be able to work caringly with long-term care and geriatric patients. Excellent leadership and communication skills are required.
  • One year experience; preferably in a long-term setting.
