SUMMARY
Directs, plans, provides administrative oversight to hospice and palliative care clinical operations, Community Relations and Pathways of Hope under the direction of the President/CEO. Responsible for program development, assessing and improving models of care, monitoring trends in the hospice field and enhancing a learning environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Leadership and Strategic Planning
Assists the President/CEO in strategic planning development and implementation for Hospice of Dayton, Inc. with the ultimate outcome of providing comfortable and peaceful death for our patients, being the best in the world at response time, while holding a positive ratio of resources to results.
Develops, implements and communicates plans and programs so that they are in alignment with the Strategic Plans of the organization.
Participates in meetings of the Board of Directors and the Board of Directors Committee Meetings (PIPAC, Finance Committee, etc.)
Provides Senior Leadership coverage of the organization in the absence of the President/CEO.
Provides leadership development and effective coaching of direct reports.
Assists the Chief Financial Officer with promoting financial stability, annual budget development and monthly variance review for responsible areas.
Organizes administrative functions to ensure effective use of personnel and resources to meet organizational goals.
Quality Service and Teamwork
Oversees clinical service delivery for the organization, assuring the delivery functions are of the highest quality to promote the goals and mission of HOD.
Advocates that responsible areas utilize the latest technology to meet the needs of the organization.
Assures that management and staff adheres to regulatory compliance rules, the highest of internal and external customer service standards and achieve effective results in all assigned departments.
Facilitates and provides general oversight of work groups and committees working on initiatives within responsible areas.
Assures effective organizational results working collaboratively with other on the Executive Management Team.
Keeps abreast of the competitive and changing business, health care, legal and legislative environments.
Collaborates with the Training Advisory Committee to ensure adequate staff development, training and education so that staff remain competent to deliver quality and safe care to patients.
Ensures that all contract services are appropriately selected, implemented, monitored, and evaluated.
Identifies own educational needs to keep current and upgrade knowledge and skills via workshops, seminars, and self-study.
Other projects as assigned by President/CEO.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops and leads the executive and management teams of Hospice of Dayton. Directly manages 6+ individuals who supervise a total of 350+ employees in all Clinical Departments, Palliative Care, Community Relations, Pathways of Hope. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching employees; approving certain financial transactions, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Position Requirements
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
7-10 years related management experience in a healthcare organization, preferably Hospice; at least 3 years at Sr. Management level
Master's degree (M.H.A or M.B.A. preferred) in business or healthcare administration or related field
Experience in managing a minimum of $30M operational budget
Knowledge of regulatory and statutory regulations
