This position is responsible for obtaining referrals from each patients primary care physician (PCP) office for all scheduled visits as well as verifying current insurance. The referral coordinator will also manage all aspects of incoming referrals from referring physician offices. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Obtains referrals for office visits Coordinate and schedule all incoming referrals Routinely checks physicians schedules for any additional add-on appointments requiring referrals Serves as a cardiology representative to referring physician offices, insurance carriers and patients Ability to communicate with multiple departments as needed Collaborate with all department to ensure all referrals are facilitated JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED: Knowledge of medical office procedures Knowledge of managed care organizations and insurance carriers requirements of pre-notification of medical services Knowledge of medical terminology required Must have excellent verbal communication skills Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information Knowledge of computer and job related software EDUCATION: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two years related experience in a medical practice in insurance processing and follow up. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Minimum of two years medical business office experience. Demonstrate strong leadership and problem solving abilities.
