Job Description:

Ensures and supports proper cleaning and sanitation of all areas of facility and equipment. Conducts all aspects of job duties in a safe and responsible manner.

Responsibility and Duties:

Supports Production Supervisors in monitoring cleaning frequencies and chemical titration completion.

Supports and Coaches Production Personnel in effective cleaning practices on equipment and performs pre-operational inspections to insure equipment cleanliness.

Reviews CIP charts and titration results to confirm equipment was properly cleaned.

Performs Environmental Cleaning throughout the facility as necessary.

Must possess a working knowledge of sanitation operations, including Cleaning In Place (CIP) systems.

Performs sanitation related activities including performing preventative maintenance on valves and pumps and operating various equipment (i.e. floor scrubber, power washer) and performs various duties (i.e. wiping down surfaces, swabbing, etc.) on an as needed basis to ensure facility cleanliness and sanitation.

Assists Sanitation Coordinator/Supervisor in projects and activities as required.

Must possess a working knowledge of Food Safety, Food Quality, HACCP and SQF programs. Participates in annual Sensory Training.

Lifts/moves hoses, equipment and chemical containers.

Assists in transporting equipment and cleaning/sanitation materials and supplies with forklifts or other devices.

Confers with supervisors to coordinate cleaning and sanitation activities.

Completes associated documentation in a complete, accurate and timely manner.

Compiles required reports regarding regular inspections, sanitation violations, and steps taken to resolve deficiencies.

Insures efficient and effective use of chemicals, time and water usage related to cleaning and sanitation activities.

Guides employees regarding sanitation and equipment cleaning and sanitation procedures.

Follows instructions and responds to management or lead direction.

Includes appropriate people in decision-making process and supports and explains reasoning for decisions;

Manages competing demands and changes approach or method to best fit the situation.

Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events and reacts well under pressure.

Writes and speaks clearly and informatively.

Able to read and interpret written information and present numerical data effectively.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

No direct supervisory duties.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Education and/or Experience:

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or minimum of one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Possess working knowledge of Food Safety, HACCP, Sanitation, and SQF Programs. Able to attend and successfully complete EcoLab Sanitation School.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficient typing and computer skills including knowledge Internet software; Spreadsheet software (MS Excel), Word Processing software (MS Word) and Email software (Microsoft365).

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Must posses (or attain within seven (7) working days of initial hire or placement in this position) and maintain a current and valid forklift and pallet jack operator's license. HACCP Certification is desired.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; outside weather conditions extreme cold, and frequent changes in temperature from going in and out of the freezers. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and hearing protection is required in all production areas of the facility

How CPF is Keeping Employees Safe
