ELECTRICIAL PLC TECHNICIAN

Job Description:

Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment. It also performs duties on installation, monitoring, maintenance, repair and/or modification of electromechanical systems. Ensures reliable operation of electromechanical systems throughout the facility including production and plant support equipment.

Responsibility and Duties:

Day to day troubleshooting, repair, and installation of low & high voltage industrial electromechanical & control systems for utility and production equipment.

Responsible for documenting existing and new equipment, control, and power system installation.

Assists in the development, implementation, repair, and maintenance of the plant's instrumentation, control, and electromechanical systems.

Reload and reboot PLC to restore faulted equipment after power outages.

Troubleshoot and repairs equipment by utilizing PLC program as a tool to identify issues.

Modify PLC program as needed to optimize process.

Able to troubleshoot and repair control circuits and 3 phase circuits.

Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.

Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.

Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.

Repairs electrical and mechanical equipment and/or replaces defective parts and lubricates and cleans parts as needed in accordance with food/beverage manufacturing quality system practices.

Experienced use of electrical diagnostic equipment such as multi meters.

Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills and shares expertise with others.

Exhibits sound and accurate judgment and includes appropriate people in decision-making process.

Follows instructions, responds to management direction

Works with Maintenance Manager to prioritize and plan work activities and completes work in timely manner

Initiates purchase order for parts and machines.

Works within approved budget and conserves organizational resources.

Follows policies and procedures and observes safety and security procedures.

Uses equipment and materials properly and reports potentially unsafe conditions.

Is consistently at work and on time and commits to long hours of work when necessary to reach goals.

Maintains inventory records and performs cycle counts as necessary.

Possesses the Skills and Knowledge, and able to meet the Physical Demands and perform in the work environment described in the Work Environment section below.

Willing to handle tasks outside of the electrical/PLC realm as needed.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

One year certificate from college or technical school; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have PLC programming experience. Must have industrial electrical experience.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as electrical prints and schematics, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should possess basic computer and keyboarding skills and have knowledge of and be competent in the use of Inventory and Maintenance Related Software.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and requires that hearing protection be worn in all production areas.

Additional Information:

Complete understanding of industrial electrical systems, including DC voltage and AC voltage. Proficiency in electrical installations with conduit and wiring practices.

Mechanic must have own basic set of tools, to include, but not be limited to the following items:

-Wrenches & sockets -Adjustable wrenches

-Pliers -Nut Drivers

-Screwdrivers

-Multimeter
