MarBorg Industries Performance Job Descriptions Job Title: Route Supervisor REPORTS TO: Hauling Operations Manager FLSA: Exempt PREPARED DATE: June 2021 SUMMARY The Route Supervisor supports the Franchise Residential waste collection Department to ensure compliance of company's policies and safety procedures by ensuring the activities of all drivers and co-drivers to be safe and efficient while providing excellent service to all customers. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Supports the department in collaboration with organizing routes and audits route lists to provide efficient service while maintaining a safe work environment. Utilize technology (i.e., Softpak, GPS, ADP Dashboard) to effectively manage employees, customers, jobs, trucks, and services that need to be performed along each route. Recommend route changes and improvements to the management team. Works together with Franchise Supervisors in managing time off requests to ensure proper staffing. Identify, select, and develop employees. Sets the safety expectation and ensures compliance. Conducts Root Cause Investigations for all injuries and incidents, ensuring consistent discipline and retraining. Active member on Team Impact. Facilitates a culture of continuous improvement. Conducts field inspections on random routes on a weekly basis to ensure safe work practices. Works with customers to ensure satisfaction including proactive problem resolution. Special errands and projects as requested by Management. Trains, develops, and mentors employees. Completes formal written performance evaluations for Franchise employees in accordance with company HR policies and procedures. Organizes and reviews employees end-of-day paperwork and turns it in to the proper staff (drivers logs, weight tickets, etc.)., Coordinates with Fleet Maintenance Manager receives any post-trips reports that require maintenance/repair of trucks and turns in paperwork on a daily basis. Reminds employees to properly secure their vehicles at the end of their shift (i.e., applying parking brake, windows rolled up, etc.) Ensures CNG fueling stations are functioning properly and connected correctly on a daily basis. Addresses customer complaints with employees at the end of their routes and follows-up with customer, if necessary. Recommends service alternatives or additional MarBorg services where appropriate. Meets with customers to offer refuse hauling estimates arid making service recommendations and assessments regarding service. Reviews and approves payroll timesheets to ensure adherence to assigned work schedule. Coaches and disciplines employees who are in violation of company policies and procedures as provided in MarBorg's Employee and Safety Manuals. Partners with Safety to ensure adherence to DOT and OSHA regulations. Responds to problems in the field such as equipment failure and vehicle accidents. Operational support may include driving company vehicles in other departments in order to complete the days work if necessary, including, but not limited to Roll-Off, Walking Floor and delivery trucks of waste receptacles. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong knowledge of the waste management industry a plus. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry put instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
