Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Operates all scales and related equipment. Prints out the Bill of Materials (BOM), First in First Out (FIFO) report and barcode information sheets that will be required for daily material & ingredient usage. Requests and verifies materials and/or ingredients against the BOM to ensure that the item number and the name match. Verifies the materials/ingredients coming into the pre-mix room are not expired, are not on hold, are not open and are free of debris. Prints finished good labels. Creates job numbers for each item(s) to be scaled. Ensures that pallet quantity received into a room matches the quantity on the barcode label. Issues materials to appropriate job numbers during the shift. Weighs all relevant ingredients into properly labeled containers using established methods and procedures. Ensures that all scaled products are properly labeled. Records batch information. Ensures that outer layer of ingredient packaging is removed or cleaned. Ensures that all necessary equipment needed for the next production run is ready, clean, and in working order prior to the start of that product. Cleans all ingredient containers. Notifies supervisor or maintenance department when repairs or adjustments are beyond the scope of his or her expertise. Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product. Suggests changes in the working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department, line or team. Ensures proper communication on pre-ops and changeovers between shifts. Maintains and monitors cleanliness of employees working area. Suggests ways to control labor and supply costs as well as improve processes. Ensures that all work activities are performed with attention to the highest standards for quality, safety and compliance with all appropriate legal and food safety requirements and a focus on continuous improvement. Ensures that all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are followed. Follows all company policies & procedures as well as the GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices). Maintains a high level of safety awareness for an accident-free work place. Reports any unsafe or hazardous work conditions or safety-related issues to Management. Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested.
Education, Skills and experience: Education: High school, GED or equivalent preferred.
Skills and Experience Ability to work overtime, irregular hours or rotating shifts. One to three months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous food manufacturing experience is helpful. Ability to minimally speak, write and understand English. Ability to speak Spanish is helpful. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, formulas, and policy and procedures manuals. Ability to write standard information into related paperwork. Ability to use a scale and take measurements accurately. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure including but not limited to pounds, ounces, grams, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out simple instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to thrive in a constantly changing environment.
Organizational Structure: The PreMix Scaler will report directly to the Bakery Supervisor. Compensation Average annual salary: $35,000 - $45,000/year which includes: Hourly pay of $16.86-$18.11/hour, based on experience Overtime after 40 hours per week; average work week 40-50 hours per week Opportunities for advancement positions paying $50K-$60K/year Benefits Benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, and Voluntary Life) - 1st of the month following 60 days PTO - 8 Personal after 60 days and begin earning additional PTO after 180 days of employment - 401K Saving and Retirement Plan
