Position Summary: The Sanitation Specialist is responsible for individual equipment that is associated with the cleaning process in the production rooms. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Execute plant sanitation tear down procedures, programs and regulatory requirements ensuring all plant equipment is clean and safe for production
- Disassembles equipment according to the master sanitation schedule, by request to complete quarterly tear downs per HACCP, by request of production and as requested by management
- Re-assembles equipment after it has been cleaned by employee and ensures it is operating to OEM standards
- Ensures that all of the information is recorded on the required systems, report deviations to supervisor and management team.
- Assists the supervisors and leads to coordinate the activities of individual departments.
- Maintains sanitation equipment (i.e. foamers, magnets, chemical dispensing units) operational.
- Monitor the chemical storage and dispense the appropriate concentration for cleaning activities
- Operates production equipment (sauce tanks, CIP, mixers, sheeting lines, conveyors, proofers, and freezers, etc) to ensure proper cleanliness.
- Acquire and maintain fall protection and power industrial equipment certification to clean evaporators and other equipment in elevated areas.
- Follows sanitation processes and procedures as well as HACCP and safety programs.
- Ensures that the sanitation and production equipment is inspected before and after cleaning.
- Submits requests for repair of the equipment to the Manager or Superintendent.
- Ensures that the sanitation of equipment, machinery and rooms in production are acceptable.
- Provides feedback for repairs needed during non producing shifts.
- Requests materials and/or equipment through the Manager or Superintendent as needed.
- Ensures that all work activities are performed with attention to the highest standards for quality, safety and compliance with all appropriate legal and food safety requirements and a focus on continuous improvement.
- Ensures that all sanitation containers are properly labelled.
- Ensures proper communication and assists in pre-ops and changeovers between shifts.
- Suggests ways to control labor and supply costs as well as improve processes.
- Ensures that all work activities are performed with attention to the highest standards for quality, safety and compliance with all appropriate legal and food safety requirements and a focus on continuous improvement.
- Follows all company policies & procedures as well as the GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices).
- Maintains a high level of safety awareness for an accident-free work place.
- Reports any unsafe or hazardous work conditions or safety-related issues to Management.
- Follows daily work instructions from the Manager and Superintendent and performs duties in a timely manner.
- Maintains the cleanliness of working areas.
- Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested.
Education, Skills and Experience: Education: - High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Three (3) to six (6) months of related experience in a food manufacturing facility.
Skills and Experience: - Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, LOTO, safety regulations
- Ability to use scissor lifts, fork-lifts as needed to access equipment
- Sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines; self-directed
- Ability to work overtime, irregular hours or rotating shifts.
- Ability to minimally speak and write in English.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and policy and procedure manuals.
- Ability to use tools and perform repairs as needed.
- Ability to convey standard information in written and verbal form.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
- Ability to take measurements appropriately.
- Ability to effectively communicate to appropriate personnel.
- Ability to operate sanitation equipment.
- Ability to thrive in a constantly changing environment.
- Bilingual preferred but not required
Organizational Structure: The Sanitation Technician Specialist will report directly to the Sanitation Superintendent. Compensation Average annual salary: $45,000 - $55,000/year which includes: Hourly pay of $19.13/hour, based on experience Overtime after 40 hours per week; average work week 40-50 hours per week Opportunities for advancement positions Benefits Benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, and Voluntary Life) - 1st of the month following 60 days PTO - 8 Personal after 60 days and begin earning additional PTO after 180 days of employment - 401K Saving and Retirement Plan
