Description: This is an entry level engineering position. The Associate Engineer will be working on DoD Integrated Logistic Support for satellite communications systems. Duties include: Becoming familiar with and learn to operate Satellite Communications (SATCOM) ground terminal equipment and associated Internet Protocol (IP) networking equipment. Work with a small team to write operator and maintenance manuals for the SATCOM ground terminal systems Become familiar with and implement DoD engineering processes with focus on configuration management (CM). This includes the engineering change proposal (ECP) process to track and implement changes to system baselines. Becoming familiar with and implement environmental, safety, and occupational health (ESOH) standards and guidance. Work with a lead engineer and customer to document ESOH concerns/issues for SATCOM systems per Mil-Std-882. Becoming familiar with and implement Human Systems Integration (HSI) standards and guidance. Work with a lead engineer and customer to document HSI concerns/issues for SATCOM systems. Assist a configuration team in developing, implementing, and auditing the configuration management (CM) process and associated documentation to ensure the CM policy is being followed. Responsible for implementing tasks for the maintenance and continuous improvement of network configurations and documentation of the operational systems. They will also help senior team members to review and implement changes within configurations design and documentation. Position will monitor and provide oversight of environmental integrity, implement delivery, execute and monitor changes to the development of the CM policy, monitor the network baseline configuration, and work with teams to create and maintain configuration baselines to support all mission networks. Responsible for documentation changes, updates and assisting in the creation of new policy documents, providing configuration status reporting and/or metrics, working collaboratively to achieve day-to-day objectives with significant impact on the area/project team and deliverables, and support technical writing. .Requirements:Education: BS in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical discipline. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and written and verbal communication skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software to maintain accurate records. Experience with customer service is a plus. The engineer is expected to quickly become familiar with DoD engineering processes with focus on configuration management (CM) to include the engineering change proposal (ECP) process, environmental safety and occupational health (ESOH), human systems integration (HSI), and writing test plans, procedures, and reports.
