Responsibilities
A Physical Therapist Assistant is a licensed professional who assists in the provision of physical therapy treatments, including the provision of patient education and instruction, under the supervision of a physical therapist. The Physical Therapist Assistant keeps the physical therapist updated on how the patient is progressing and responding to treatment and documents the information. Major tasks and duties include, but are not limited to: direct patient care, day to day patient scheduling, consultation with physicians, Physical Therapist and other team members, documentation in the electronic medical record, quality assurance and performance improvement(QAPI), clinical education, guest relations, and billing for patient services rendered an other duties as assigned. Minimum Education Graduation from an accredited school for physical therapist assistant required. Required Licenses [Ohio, United States] Physical Therapy Assistant Must be licensed by the State of Ohio. Required Skills CPR certified.
Ability to perform therapy treatments in accordance with the established plan of care.
Ability to communicate with supervising physical therapist, patients, physicians and staff.
Ability to delegate appropriate treatment activities to supportive personnel.
Knowledge of and ability to use therapy equipment.
Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, documentation in electronic medical record.
Has good interpersonal skills and the ability to multitask. Specific Job Functions Demonstrates clinical competence in implementing, modifying, and progressing therapy to meet the individualized patient goals following / advancing per protocol when applicable.
Establishes and maintains a therapeutic relationship with the patient, family, physician, therapist and other caregivers. Includes patient, family, and caregivers in the treatment process as appropriate
Documents treatment notes in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with the KHN documentation Policy. Utilizes clear, concise language for documentation. Completes other necessary documentation including but not limited to daily charges for outpatients in a timely and accurate manner.
Documentation meets standards of CMS, HFAP, and other regulatory agencies
Meets the quality improvement and assurances standards of department including but not limited to: patient/family education and timeliness of notes and charges.
Maintains/exceeds acceptable level of productivity based on current departmental standard. Prioritizes caseload/schedule based on patient acuity and departmental needs, assisting co-workers as needed and flexes schedule to accommodate volume. Accepts and completes assigned responsibilities and routine tasks in a timely manner.
Seeks opportunities for professional growth through literature review, participation in professional groups, in-services, and continuing education. Provides clinical supervision of PTA students, non-licensed professionals, rehab aides, support personnel and volunteers. Seeks and accepts constructive suggestions and implements changes when needed.
Demonstrates the ability to work as a team member toward achieving department goals.
