DEPARTMENT: Foundry DESCRIPTION Remove poured flaskless and flasks molds from pouring floor Prep pouring floor for day shift pouring (cleaning, sweeping, etc.) Maintain and clean area under and around shakeout area Remove all feasible sand and core rods from castings prior to moving to grinding room Use shakeout deck and cranes to remove castings from molds unless specified Ability to run all cab and remote foundry cranes Empty and switch out dust collectors and dust collector bags Clean and empty reclamation system Pull any/all loose debris from shakeout deck (flashing, rods, etc.) Empty mixer boxes from core bench and figure 9 Any other tasks or jobs assigned by management. COMPLEXITY AND JUDGMENT Routine physical and repetitive work following established procedures and instructions. EDUCATION Able to understand and follow instructions. Normal high school equivalent. EXPERIENCE One (1) months of physical labor; foundry experience preferred, but not necessary. INITIATIVE Normal initiative to perform routine physical work and functional responsibilities. Unusual problems should be referred to supervisor. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Some heavy lifting, push/pulling on occasion, but largely moderate physical effort required. Employees working in this position are required to frequently stand, walk and hear. The employee is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to one hundred (100) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. WORKING CONDITIONS Some conditions are extremely noisy with exposure to dust, heat and some fumes. Some exposure to outside weather conditions. Working in the foundry environment subject to temperatures of heat and cold depending on the season. Required PPE includes, but is not limited to steel toe shoes, hearing protection, hard hat, eye protection, and necessary protective mask or respirator.
