Role Description

Responsible for the development and evolution of the enterprise information architecture and solutions at IKAV. This individual must be skilled and experienced in data architecture, data modeling, and strategy. They must also be knowledgeable and capable with data integration tools and solutions and have recent database administration experience. The Data Architecture and Management Lead will work closely with their Infrastructure and Application counterparts, and with our solution partners, to support and enhance the availability, quality, and usefulness of data across the enterprise. This individual actively consults and engages with business and partner associates to ensure that data solutions are well-conceived, fit for purpose, and scalable to meet the needs of the broader business.



Data Strategy - Oversees the Data and Information Architecture strategy at IKAV and actively manages its direction and objectives.
Leadership - Provides necessary leadership to company efforts that impact the information environment at IKAV by actively contributing governance and data management expertise to business and IT projects.
Data Architecture Process - Creates and maintains the IKAV enterprise data landscape and actively works to ensure its continuing value proposition. Manages the "current state" while also projecting "interim states" that will result from the organization's business and system projects and activities. Provides a singular, integrated view of cloud based, SAAS databases with on-premises data assets.
Data Portfolio - Contributes the data perspective to the business applications portfolio and roadmap and ensures that enterprise data architecture and processes are considered and incorporated into the evolution of the organization's IT solutions.
Collaboration with Business - Facilitates collaboration to deliver business value by working closely with business users to understand requirements and business objectives.
Industry Knowledge - Demonstrates a strong understanding of Upstream and Midstream Oil and Gas business strategies and processes. Leverages this capability to anticipate and quickly understand IKAV's business requirements and objectives and incorporate into IT solutions.
IT Service Delivery - Shares responsibility with IT Applications and Infrastructure Leads to deliver high-quality and timely IT services to the IKAV business. Ensures that Application, Infrastructure, Security, Operational, and Data requirements are coherently realized in IT service delivery.
Application Integration for Insight and Efficiency - Analyzes and integrates enterprise and third-party sources of data to generate useful operational insights in partnership with business users. Actively drives application integration projects to enhance process efficiencies and eliminate data seams.
Standards and Governance - Develops, configures, and maintains database standards for custom applications, third party applications, and other areas that may require custom database development to further the Company's goals and business initiatives while ensuring adherence to data management policies and regulatory controls.
Database Administration - Oversees and contributes to the Database Administration function which broadly includes the development, instantiation, management, and tuning of Microsoft SQL Server databases across the organization.
Asset and Acquisition Integration - Consults on asset integration efforts resulting from M&A activities, ensuring that acquired data is effectively and efficiently migrated or integrated into IKAV processes and systems.
Vendor Management - Manages IT partners and vendors effectively to achieve IKAV projects and objectives.
Knowledge / Skills
Significant knowledge of and experience with enterprise data design and management. Experience analyzing sources of data and integrating them into a broader enterprise model. Experience with data modeling tools and processes such as Erwin. Experience using Visio to produce models for discussion and iteration.
Deep understanding of data quality and master data management and the importance of governance in ensuring that data is captured, validated, and refined to be fit for purpose in facilitating business goals.
Must have experience with an Oil and Gas operator and understand the upstream and midstream business models and relevant data at an expert level. Must have experience working with common Oil and Gas applications including, but not limited to: W energy, SAP, Wonderware, Landmark EDM solutions, EnergyLink, IHS Markit Piper and Harmony, etc.
Ideal candidate has experience working in a start-up environment and is experienced in the data implications of integrating acquired companies and assets.
The position requires experience with analyzing, designing, and implementing data migration and integration strategies to develop strong analytical tools, integrate acquired asset data, and improve the efficiency of internal processes. Experience with different EAI and ETL tools, including Microsoft SSIS, Informatica, and SOA tools.
Microsoft SQL Server database administration experience is preferred. Ability to implement SQL Server databases, deep SQL knowledge, and experience troubleshooting technical issues and tuning databases for performance and availability.
The position also requires exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and relate to senior-level executives, management, as well as all levels of employees.
Qualifications
This role requires at least 4 years of experience in a hands-on leadership role and 10 years of aggregate professional experience with data architecture, database administration, and development.
A Bachelor's degree is required, Masters preferred.
At least seven years of proven application administration and development experience.
Employment experience in oil and gas companies is a requirement.
Consulting experience with oil and gas clients is also desirable.
