RK&K has an opportunity for a Project Engineer focusing in Transportation/Roadway Design in our Lakeland or Tampa office(s). The successful candidate will prepare highway designs for a variety of project types, from preliminary concepts to final construction plans. They will be an engineer who displays good engineering judgement, takes pride in their work, takes initiative, and wants the opportunity to work on challenging projects in a fast-paced, multi-discipline, team environment.

Essential Functions:

Design roadway and drainage solutions utilizing MicroStation Open Roads (FDOT Connect)

Provide creative solutions to ever changing transportation demands throughout Florida

Prepare construction cost estimates

Collaborate as a part of a roadway team to develop final design

Coordinate with clients and sub-consultants on projects

Mentor junior staff as needed

Required Education and Experience

Bachelors of Science (BS) in Civil Engineering or related Engineering field

Four (4) to ten (10) years of related experience

Professional Engineer (P.E.) License

Proficiency in MicroStation Open Roads Designer (FDOT Connect) and 3D Modeling

Basic understanding of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Basic understanding of developing design documentation

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Preferred Education and Experience

Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) experience is a plus

Basic understanding of FDOT Florida Design Manual, FDOT Standard Plans, FDOT Specifications, AASHTO Green Book and Roadside Design Guide is a plus
