The Controller coordinates the full range of financial and managerial accounting related activities. The position is responsible for all operational and financial accounting systems, financial close, financial reporting, federal/state/local tax filings, treasury and banking functions, capital asset systems and reporting, coordination of internal control audits, and compliance with general accepted accounting principles. The position will participate in budgeting and forecasting, third party reimbursement, managed care analysis, analysis of new business plans and financial analysis.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Denotes the essential job functions according to ADA guidelines.
*1. Direct management responsibility for the general accounting department and payroll and accounts payable function.
*2. Provides timely financial management information and ensures the integrity of the financial reporting and consolidation for St. Alexius Hospital and assigned other non-hospital entities.
*3. Develops departmental goals and objectives in support of the hospitals strategic plan and ensures that objectives are accomplished within the established time frame.
*4. Participates and reviews the preparation of the annual operating plan and capital budget. Participates in the budget review process through the identification of budget variances and development of recommendations for corrective action.
*5. Directs and maintains the fixed asset accounting systems, to include the review of capital appropriateness, analyses of lease/purchase options, and compliance with capitalized lease obligations.
*6. Coordinate all corporate internal and external financial audits.
*7. Assists in analyzing financial reporting of all related entities (i.e. MOB). Ensures accuracy and integrity of School of Nursing financial statements.
*8. Participates in the review of third party reimbursement activity, to include the review of Medicare and Medicaid cost reports and other reimbursement issues.
*9. Provides critical review and management recommendations for enhancements to systems and methodologies to insure quality production in account payable, general accounting and financial reporting.
*10.Reviews and manages federal/state/local tax compliance, to include: payroll tax reporting, sales tax compliance, property tax reporting, and completion of tax compliance packets for corporate tax department..Requirements:
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
Bachelors degree in accounting or related field required; a CPA or Masters Degree in Business preferred.
CPA preferred; CHFP - Certified Healthcare Financial Professional preferred.
Demonstrated skills and abilities in financial healthcare management, prefer 10 years experience
