Mechanics are responsible to operate and maintain company aircraft in accordance with company policy and procedures ultimately ensuring that all FAR and FAA regulatory requirements and mandates are satisfied.


  • Accomplishes scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks as assigned during their assigned work shift, ensuring the continued airworthiness of the company aircraft in accordance with FARs and the provisions of this manual, and protect at all times the best interests of the company and its property.
  • Ensures the proper references, manuals, forms or records are available and are being used as specified, and that the proper recording/sign-off of all maintenance tasks are made as detailed within the manual. This includes ensuring that all repairable parts are tagged correctly and with accurate information, including the reason for removal.
  • Accomplishes assigned maintenance tasks within the scope of the standard practice and procedures set forth in this manual, the Manufacturer's Maintenance and/or Overhaul Manuals, and the FARs
  • Complies with all company's rules and regulations regarding industrial safety.
  • Performs incoming aircraft review of recorded discrepancies, malfunctions with the flight crew. Reviews pilot discrepancies to ensure that the entry provides sufficient information on which to base proper corrective action.
  • Provides for the safe movement of aircraft on the ramp and in or around any hangar area.
  • Provides for the fueling, oiling or replenishing of fluids aboard all aircraft in order to ensure compliance with the provisions of this manual.
  • Is thoroughly familiar with the provisions of the company General Maintenance Manual and the Maintenance Manual and with revisions issues by the Quality Control Department.
  • Accomplishes any other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor of Maintenance.
  • Quality Control Functions
  • The Mechanic, when qualified and authorized as an RII Designated Inspector, is the direct representative of the Director of Quality Assurance, Quality Control. When functioning as a designated inspector, the Mechanic shall adheres to the detailed duties and responsibilities of the Quality Control Department as detailed in "Quality Control/Inspection on page 4-01-1. In addition to those duties above, the Mechanic shall notify Maintenance Control of any action required or taken, which necessitates a RII inspection. This notification shall be via telephone or facsimile.
  • For those mechanics that are not assigned to JFK, they will report to the respective manager/supervisor of line stations.


  • Aircraft Mechanics must possess a valid FAA Mechanic Certification in accordance with the requirements of F.A.R. 65, Subpart D, and have technical experience on Boeing 747 or similar aircraft.
  • Must possess FAA Airframe and Powerplant Licenses OR FCC License (avionics)
  • At least 12 months of effective performance as a Mechanics Helper
  • At least 18 months of heavy jet (preferably 747) experience
