Madison Veterinary Specialists (MVS) is seeking full and part time Certified Veterinary Technicians and current Veterinary Technician students to join our growing team. The move to our new hospital has increased our growth dramatically and has created new positions in the following departments:
Internal Medicine Technicians: This fast paced synergistic team supports our Internists in performing appointments, client communication, laboratory tests and procedures including but not limited to endoscopy, ultrasound, radiology, CT and other advanced procedures. Technicians on this team will learn anesthetic administration and monitoring, sedation and RECOVER CPR. MVS supports our CVT's pursuit of their VTS in Internal Medicine and related specialties. This team is supported by our veterinary assistants and client care specialists. If you're a technician that is looking to fully utilize their skillset and continue to learn this is the team for you! This service offers flexible scheduling Monday through Friday with shifts between the hours of 7am through 6 pm.
Surgery Technicians: One of our busiest services, surgery days are never routine. Working with our two board certified surgeons, certified technicians are able to fully utilize their training in all areas, from client communications and administering anesthesia to bandaging and pain management. MVS promotes and supports our CVT's pursuit of their VTS in Anesthesia. The surgery technician team is supported by veterinary assistants and pack-&-prep assistants that help with patient care, invoicing and sterilizing packs. This service offers flexible scheduling Monday through Friday with shifts between the hours of 7am through 6 pm.
Emergency Technicians: If expecting the unexpected is your strength, this is the service for you! This highly dynamic team works with our internship-trained emergency veterinarians to provide critical care when our patients need us most. You will fully utilize and enhance your skills with training in RECOVER CPR and advanced procedures on this service while being supported by a team of veterinary assistants and kennel assistants. MVS promotes and supports our CVT's pursuit of their VTS in Emergency and Critical Care. This service has 24 hour staffing 7 days a week so several shifts are available including day, swing and overnight. Overnight shifts qualify for additional differential pay.
Neurology Technicians: Are you ready to utilize your technical skills in a dynamic, educational and fun setting? Are you interested in pursuing your VTS in Internal Medicine, subspecialties Neurology? We promise your talents will be fully utilized and developed with this service.
Qualifications for neurology:
- Experience in monitoring anesthesia including EKG, SPO2, Doppler as well as recovery
- Experience using ventilator
- Proficient in IV catheter placement and phlebotomy
- Pharmocology and medication administration skills
- Preoperative drug calculations
- Ability to calculate and set up constant rate infusions
- Knowledge of or ability to learn performing or assisting with specific medical procedures: CSF collection, CT scan, MRI, hemilaminectomy, ventral slot, craniotomy
- Client communication/education such as counseling on seizure logs and medications, home physical therapy, bladder expression, and daily updates of hospitalized patients.
Neurology hours are Tuesday through Friday 7 am - 6 pm. A very competitively compensated once-a-month weekend on-call rotation is also part of this position.
- Current WI State Certified Licensed Veterinary Technician, currently enrolled in a Veterinary Technician associates degree program, or eligible to take the VTNE.
- Experience working with animals in a veterinary professional environment.
- Familiar with Windows based software, preferably ImproMed Infinity software
On-boarding & Training: Each new MVS team member completes a supportive training program during their initial 6 months with MVS and is assigned a mentor within their department to help acclimate, answer questions and generally assist with getting to know the larger team.
