Job Summary:
The RN manages the direct patient care of an identified patient or group of patients. The RN assumes the primary responsibility and accountability for the delivery of all patient care. The RN may delegate the responsibility to perform nursing tasks to individuals on the healthcare team (LPN, PCT, NA) who are competent to perform these acts or tasks. When delegating to an unlicensed individual, the RN retains accountability for the nursing tasks. A RN is assigned charge responsibilities on a rotating basis, on each shift. Additionally, the RN must reflect advanced clinical expertise and leadership in the area of practice across HCGH and community, oversee the preceptorship & coordination of unit orientation process, serves as a role model and precepts nursing students, serve as a chairperson of a unit based professional practice council, engage in advancement activities, and requires attendance at staff meetings. Communications and collaboration are required within and outside the work group to provide patient care and resolve mutual issues. Communication and collaboration with external contacts is for the provision of on-going service and handling of routine transactions, frequently detailed information. Responsible for ensuring that satisfaction and service to internal and external contacts is maintained.
REQUIREMENTS:
Six months of employment at HCGH is required. Graduate of an approved BSN program with a minimum of five years of experience. The BSN requirement will be waived for the first twelve (12) months after the first Clinical IV position is posted. Previous specialty clinical experience required with national certification in specialty area. Current Maryland license as an RN or licensure in a compact state that allows practice in MD, must maintain current CPR certification, and ability to pass all hospital competencies required for the position. Must currently hold hours in the department. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
