Duties: Assesses the health care needs of patients and provides or ensures access for provision of health care needs pertaining to orthopedics and podiatry issues. Coordinates with health care providers to ensure continuity of care through referral, education and/or follow-up care. Develops and conducts screening programs or methods based on available resources to secure health care for eligible customers. Performs or requests selected portions of health exam for assessment and/or screening purposes. Counsels patients for orthopedic and podiatry issues. Establish individualized action plan for follow-up care and wellness management. Review and/or revise proposed action plan with physician and/or ancillary support staff in order to prevent recurrence of problem or ensure proper management of process. Assists with the coordination of home resources for patient requiring alternative home management. Assists with coordination of equipment and physical or occupational therapy for patients.
About the Position: Must maintain current, valid unrestricted Registered Nursing licensure in a state, US Territory or District of Columbia.

General Schedule
BASIC QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
A. Education: Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant. Foreign education must be evaluated for U.S. Equivalency and certification provided.
B. Registration: Applicants must have active, current registration as a RN in a State, DC, Puerto Rico, or a territory of the US.
SPECIALIZED EXPRIENCE: In addition to meeting the basic requirements above, applicant must possess one year of specialized experience which equipped the applicant with knowledge of a full range of established nursing concepts, principles, and practices to perform nursing assignments in order to provide specialized nursing services through health Promotion and Educational Programs. All programs require additional skills obtained through advanced education and experiences. Knowledge of communicable disease control methods, measures, and practices, as related to HIV/AIDS and other blood borne diseases. Knowledge of adult principles of learning in order to design and present adult education for pre and post-operative education, bone, joint, and muscle health to a variety of population groups. Ability to counsel and teach individuals, families, and groups regarding orthopedics and podiatry. Knowledge and required skill necessary to assist Active Duty service members (to include National Guard, Army Reserve, on Active Duty) with processing of records for profile and deployment. Understand the role of the Health Care Center in the treatment of WTU Soldiers.

Discontinued service retirement annuitants (i.e., retired under section 8336(d)(1) or 8414(b)(1)(A) of title 5, United States Code) appointed to the Department of Defense may elect to be subject to retirement provisions of the new appointment as appropriate. - Must comply with Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
