Duties: In this position, you will perform, in an outpatient clinic, a wide range of medical duties covering diagnosis and disability processing/determination; review medical records, examine patients, order and evaluate the full range of radiology and laboratory tests, make diagnosis and prescribe appropriate treatment to include drugs, inoculations, nursing, and dietary care; serve as Primary Care Manager (PCM) to all soldiers in the Warrior Transition Unit (WTU) or soldiers undergoing Medical Evaluation Board (MEB) and their families; review medical records for possible disability processing, and assess the condition of the service member by completing a physical examination in accordance with applicable regulations; examine soldiers being referred for Fitness for Duty (FFD) and Active Duty Medical Extension (ADME) evaluations; and determines and combines permanent profiles appropriate for disability processing.
About the Position: This position falls under the general supervision of the Chief, Department of Primary Care and Community Medicine. The incumbent will serve as a medical expert and as the Medical Evaluation Board (MEB) Physician, responsible for examination and diagnosis of patients seen in the clinic for purposes of completing the Medical Evaluation Board process.

" Basic Requirements: Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from a school in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of the applicant's graduation. Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree, a candidate must have had at least 3 years of graduate training or equivalent experience such as supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in an institution accredited for such training. Candidates must have a permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. In addition, to meet the requirements at the GS-15 equivalent level, candidates must have 1 year of appropriate experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 grade level. General practitioners must be skilled in recognizing various medical pathologies that require referral to specialists for diagnostic and treatment procedures. Graduate training and experience must, therefore, be well rounded.

Discontinued service retirement annuitants (i.e., retired under section 8336(d)(1) or 8414(b)(1)(A) of title 5, United States Code) appointed to the Department of Defense may elect to be subject to retirement provisions of the new appointment as appropriate. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest.
Other Advantages: Fort Riley is located 120 miles west of Kansas City between Junction City (town of approximately 17,000) and Manhattan (college town of 45,000 residents). The local area has two large freshwater lakes for fishing, swimming, boating or camping. There are many other opportunities, Big XII Kansas State Wildcats football; Milford Lake Wetlands; hiking on the Konza Prairies; or golf at a nationally ranked course. Go hunting or ride your off-road vehicle at one of the largest ORV areas in Kansas.
Other Requirements:

Child Care Criminal History background checks may be required prior to movement to position.
Must comply with Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements.
This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for appointment to this position will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations.
