Job Summary:

  • Generate ideas based on new or current technology to improve the value of product.
  • Use statistical analysis to design and execute process or product development experiments to support new process technology for next generation products. Identify and implement methods to adapt new materials, processes, or equipment by leading or participating in Kaizen events (shop floor, business process, and/or product/process preparation).
  • Prepare capital equipment specifications, resource requirements and economic justification.
  • Liaison between development and manufacturing engineering team responsible for effective communication, written and verbal, of engineering information involved with a project.
  • Responsible for organizing, planning, and executing project transfers from a development environment to production.
  • Trains and ensures applicable knowledge of processes, product and equipment is transferred to the appropriate manufacturing engineer to meet production requirements.
  • Main project focus will be on fiberglass resins, fiberglass mat, and fiberglass pultrusion process methods.
  • May be required to work with manufacturing to solve technical issues and be responsible for special projects in systems improvements or special committees.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelors degree (B.A. /B.S.) in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering. MS preferred.
  • Two to five years experience with process development in chemical based process or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Polymer chemistry experience would be a benefit.
SKILLS:
  • Ability to effectively read, analyze and present technical information to a variety of business levels.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and Design of Experiments methodology.
  • The ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical, diagram, or verbal form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables and the successful use of statistical problem solving skills in regards to the following subjects:
  • Heat and fluid flow
  • Composite Structure Design
  • Process Development
  • The above individual should be PC literate including Finite Element Analysis or Computational Fluid Dynamic software, statistical analysis software, and Microsoft Office.
  • The individual must possess excellent communication skills, be highly motivated, organized, creative, and work effectively in a participative environment.
Compensation:
$70-80K plus bonus, and profit share.
