Minimum Qualifications:
Must be at least 16 years of age, and must have current American Red Cross Lifeguard & First Aid and CPR/AED for Lifeguards Certifications.

Preferred Qualifications
At least 1 year experience as a lifeguard is preferred. Posses an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification. Considerable ability as a swimmer, plus skill in rescue work, resuscitation, and first-aid. Knowledge of principles and practices of pool rules, policies and procedures.

Special Instructions to Applicants:
Must be able to respond quickly and effectively to emergency situations and perform life-saving/rescue procedures. This is a temporary non-benefit earning position. Application packages, including additional materials submitted such as videos, tapes, slides, books, etc., are subject to public review under Florida's Public Records law, shall become the property of FGCU, and can not be returned.

General Summary Statement:
This position's initial duties will include ensuring the safety of patron's of the aquatic facility by preventing and responding to emergencies; as well as other duties as assigned.

Working Hours:
Monday - Friday, 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Occasional early morning, late night, weekend or holiday shifts as needed.
The nature of this position will require the person to work irregular hours including some evenings and weekends.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to communicate orally in a professional and helpful manner. Ability to recognize potential or existing life-threatening situations and react calmly, quickly, and effectively to an emergency situation. Ability to respond appropriately under stressful circumstances. Ability to work individually or with co-workers in a team-oriented environment. Ability to perform cash transactions and reconcile daily revenue. Excellent interpersonal/customer service skills. Ability to lift up to 60 pounds, bend, stoop, sit for extended periods of time and perform other duties associated with patron safety. Knowledge of principles and practices of pool rules, policies and procedures.
