POSITION SUMMARY

The Research Program Manager oversees the safe and efficient running of the Envision Research Institute (ERI) research program. The purpose of this position is to support research scientists/fellows in a manner that fosters ethical conduct, scientific rigor, professional growth, comradery and a focus on scientific progress and impact.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE

  • Administer research program, including Scientist/Fellow/Trainee research onboarding and training (e.g., participant recruitment, equipment use, IRB) to assure proper adherence to institute research program policies
  • Assist the Executive Director (ED) in developing Institute research program policies and standard operating procedures. Implement and manage the Institutes policies and standard operating procedures to support ethical research program efficiency and safety; Including development/evaluation of new training materials and software tools as appropriate
  • Provides and supports processes for document control, secure records management, data management, and IRB/regulatory reporting
  • Maintain manuals and other documents for ERI equipment and participant recruitment
  • Oversee compliance with Institute research program policies and procedures to assure proper and complete research activities
  • In cooperation with Institute Administrator, provides operational support to Institute research scientists/fellows to ensure consistent interactions with other departments (clinic, marketing, accounting, IT) including supporting the Institutes technology transfer processes.
  • Oversees Institute resource procurement and maintenance, including equipment, software, library resources and vendor management.
  • Report generation and creation of promotional materials, including webpage content updates, monthly reports to ED and Envision senior management as well as assisting ED in reports to funding organizations and advisory panels
  • Assist in submission of funding applications, including preparation of supporting materials as well as gathering of research program portions (e.g., equipment and participant recruitment)
  • Participate in research projects (as Principle Investigator or Co-Investigator) as appropriate; such as with R&D committee initiatives and in internal outcome measure assessments of support programs at Envision (e.g. EVRC, PRIDE, ECDC and Level Up)
  • Coordinate and implement ERI programs as appropriate to support the continuing education of ERI researchers (visiting scholars, student researchers/interns, lecture series, journal club).



Qualifications

JOB REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE

Education:

Required

  • BS in engineering or scientific discipline
    Desired
  • Advanced degree (e.g., MS or professional degree) in engineering or scientific discipline

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of experience in research activities
  • At least 2 years of management experience (e.g., research project coordinator)

Knowledge/Skills:

Required

  • Self-motivated learner, comfortable with new technology
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Compassionate with a true desire to help staff succeed in research
  • Superior organization skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience in document control, data and records management (backups, validation), and reporting

Desired

  • Teaching experience, curriculum development
  • Knowledge of dissemination of research results
  • Experience with human subjects and training in ethics
