Brief Description of the Job
Cleans in and around parking garages, parking lots, offices, and other parking services areas. Performs general maintenance and repairs to include building/repairing gate arms, installing emergency lights, changing batteries, replacing bulbs in light fixtures as needed. Operates power tools and equipment in performance of job duties, to include pressure washer and scissor-lift. Installs and maintains speed bumps and paints curbs in parking areas. Provides customer service to patrons by courteously answering routine questions and providing directions when approached. Maintains a current knowledge of elevators to include, emergency openings and reset procedures.
- Job Duties
Clean Parking Garages and Lots (70%): Clean in and around parking garages, parking lots, offices, and other parking services areas. Pressure wash surfaces, empty garbage cans, sweep stairwells, mop floors, sweep-up trash, and clean-up spills from all areas of parking garages, parking lots, and parking areas. Clean bathrooms, offices, elevators, equipment, signs, height clearance bars, and windows. Remove graffiti, gum, and cobwebs from parking areas.
Perform Maintenance & Repairs (20%): Performs general maintenance and repairs to include building/repairing gate arms, installing emergency lights, changing batteries, and replacing bulbs in light fixtures as needed. Install signage and flooring as needed. Perform minor plumbing repairs and paint surfaces of parking areas as needed. Operate power tools such as the pressure washer and scissor-lift. Install and maintain speed bumps and paint curbs in the parking areas.
Complete General Parking Maintenance Tasks (10%): Maintain a current knowledge of elevators, emergency openings and reset procedures. Extract lost keys from elevators and alert fire department of entrapments. Pick up supplies, move equipment, attend staff meetings, check fire extinguishers, check elevators, and inspect elevator trucks. Record information into work order software. Provide customer service to patrons by courteously answering routine questions and providing directions when approached.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Formal Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience: Over one year of experience in general building/facility maintenance is required. Experience in electrical repair or electronics is preferred.
Drivers License Required: Class D South Carolina license.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Methods and materials used for the cleaning of facilities.
- Methods and materials used for painting.
- Greenville parking facilities as it pertains to basic operational functions and wayfinding practices.
Machines, Tools, Equipment, and Work Aids: Pressure washer trailer, saws, wrenches, hammer drill grinder, vehicle, tools for equipment, broom, mop, mop bucket, hose pipe, cleaning fluids, dust pan, and towels. Computer, email, time keeping software, and work order software.
- Read, understand, and apply manuals and policies.
- Organize tasks so that all are completed in desired time frames.
- Communicate with the public in providing excellence in customer service.
- Communicate with supervisor as it relates to daily job functions and special projects.
- Deal with a system of real numbers; and practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios/proportions and measurement.
- Write simple sentences containing subject, verb, and object, and/or series of numbers, names, and addresses.
Primary Work Location: Shop, Vehicle, and Garages.
Environmental/Health and Safety Factors: Frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Majority of work performed outside or with exposure to risk. Daily exposure to extreme temperature and wetness and/or humidity. Weekly exposure to respiratory hazards. Monthly exposure to noise and vibration and physical hazards. Occasional exposure to mechanical hazards and electrical hazards. Rare exposure to chemical hazards and fire hazards.
Protective Equipment Required: Safety glasses, gloves, hard hat, steel toe boots, and dust masks.
Continuously requires walking and talking. Frequently requires standing, reaching, vision, bending, hearing, and twisting. Occasionally requires lifting, carrying, sitting, handling, kneeling, crawling, pushing/pulling, climbing, foot controls, balancing, and crouching. Rarely requires fine dexterity. Medium strength demands include exerting 10 pounds constantly, up to 20 pounds frequently, and 20-50 pounds occasionally.
Frequently requires time pressures and working closely with others as part of a team. Occasionally requires emergency situations, frequent change of tasks, performing multiple tasks simultaneously, and tedious or exacting work. Rarely requires irregular schedule/overtime and noisy/distracting environment.
