PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB:
Responsible for providing support, leadership, training and development, assurance of fair and consistent practices at the local level, administration and development of policies and procedures locally, and administration and education of company benefits, corporate programs, safety procedures and programs.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Ensures that all applicable laws and company policies are followed.
- Administer company policies and write procedures for the local plant while ensuring fair and consistent treatment to all employees under the policies and practices.
- Oversee and administer company benefits and payroll at the local level.
- Lead processes to recruit, develop, promote and retain high potential employees. Direct recruitment activities assuring the timely placement of qualified employees in all open positions.
- Manage the relationship between the temporary employee staffing service and the Company. Participate in the bidding and agency selection process as required.
- Create and facilitate training for workforce development to ensure all work skills are kept current. Includes maintaining the on-site training library and development center and conducting all training required by corporate as required (Harassment in the Workplace, etc).
- Serve as local Employee Relations support; address and resolve employee relations and complaints including conducting investigations as needed.
- Conduct and assist with local wage surveys as needed; use information collected to assess competitiveness of compensation and benefits.
- Assist managers with employee performance issues and review. Includes assisting managers with motivating employees, coaching, retention and assisting with annual Performance Review process.
- Build positive relationships with all levels of employees throughout the organization to ensure that communication stays open and positive. Those relationships can then be used to manage site culture to strengthen processes, enhance and implement new processes as needed.
- Represent and promote a high level of safety throughout the operation.
- Requires regular attendance to perform essential elements of the job. Must be available to report as needed throughout the 24-hour operation schedule to administer HR related issues as they arise.
- Performs such individual assignments as management may direct.
- Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (BA) or equivalent.
- Three to five years of HR Generalist experience within a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
- Significant working knowledge of HR laws, regulations and required compliance.
- Proven conflict management skills, ability to communicate clearly and effectively in all situations.
- Strong cognitive skills, including problem analysis, decision making, financial and quantitative analysis.
- Must be proficient in MS Office products, PeopleSoft HRIS preferred.
