Description:
Under general supervision receives calls for emergency services and dispatches personnel and equipment according to established procedures; performs administrative or clerical duties requiring technical knowledge and administrative skills requiring independent judgment on a frequent basis and other related assigned duties.
Essential Job Functions:
Receives incoming requests, via telephone and radio for emergency assistance personnel
Dispatches personnel and equipment by radio
Monitors security access video cameras and fire alarm system for airport
Monitors base radios and frequencies
Operates tape recordings, flight information computer, and office equipment
Maintains and searches records and relays information to personnel in the field
Composes and edits general correspondence
Maintains log of daily operations
Assists employees and the public with questions about the location and functions of the Tulsa International Airport and reliever airports
Performs record and warrant checks on computer and uses teletype to requests information from law enforcement agencies
Reports equipment malfunction problems to proper authorities

Minimum Requirements:
Graduation from high school or possession of a General Educational Development Certificate (GED), and four (4) years of experience in the operation of communications equipment, with one (1) year of emergency services related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience per Personnel Policies and Procedures, Section 128.
Considerable knowledge of the location and functions of the Tulsa International Airport and reliever airports; good knowledge of local, State, and Federal airport regulations; good knowledge of the operation of the radio, teletype, and telephone; and knowledge of emergency/ARFF rescue dispatch and operation. Ability to think and act quickly in emergency situations using proper procedures and independent decision making; and the ability to courteously and tactfully communicate with fellow workers, supervisors, other members of the organization, and the public in giving and receiving information.
Physical Requirements:
Physical requirements include arm and hand steadiness and finger dexterity enough to use communications and office equipment; subject to sitting, standing, twisting, and walking; and vision, speech, and hearing sufficient to perform the essential tasks.
Licenses and Certificates:
APCO membership preferred.
Skill Tests Required:
Written and/or skills tests may be administered.
Working Environment:
Working environment is primarily indoors, using two-way radio, telephone, mainframe terminal, personal computers, and office machines; and may be required to work overtime.
