DEFINITION
To serve the day-to-day operations of the ice & events center for the City of Cheyenne including, but not limited to, engineering, maintenance, set-up/changeovers, custodial/housekeeping, grounds keeping; participate, when needed, in all work activities; and to perform a variety of tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.
Hours:
This is a year round position with 30+ hours per week.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED: Receives direct supervision from the Ice & Events Foreman I with general supervision received from the Assistant Director of Ice & Events.
ESSENTIAL AND MARGINAL FUNCTION STATEMENTS- Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Participates in overall daily operation and maintenance of the ice & events center including, but not limited to: ice plant systems, HVAC, sound systems, lighting systems, fire protection systems, life safety systems, workplace safety, communications systems and scoreboards.
2. Assist in the implementation of goals and objectives; implement approved policies and procedures.
3. Performs custodial services for the ice & events center.
4. Responsible for assisting in the installation and maintenance of ice surfaces and equipment.
5. Participates in event set-up and tear-down.
6. Responsible for health and safety compliance.
7. Maintain maintenance, ice, and operation logs. Generate recommendations related to the ice & events center based on analysis of logs.
Marginal Functions:
1. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required; including but not limited to monitoring of assigned building use and report statistics as required.
Qualifications: Knowledge of:
- Operations, services and activities of a planned ice & events center.
- Principles and practices of ice & events center maintenance and operations.
- Modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment/software.
- Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations.
Ability to: - Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including City officials and the general public.
- Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following:
* Walking , standing or sitting, for extended periods of time
* Operating assigned equipment
- Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for:
* Making observations
* Communicating with others
* Reading and writing
* Operating assigned equipment and vehicles
- Maintain mental capacity which allows the capability of:
* Making sound decisions
* Demonstrating intellectual capabilities
Experience and Training Guidelines: Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience:
Prior maintenance and operations.
Training High School Diploma or equivalent education (i.e. GED).
License or Certificate: Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate valid drivers license.
WORKING CONDITIONS Environmental Conditions: Ice & events center environment; irregular work hours including evenings and weekends; exposure to inclement weather; working with others.
Physical Conditions: Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for light lifting and carrying, walking, standing, or sitting for prolonged periods of time; operating motorized equipment.
