The Commercial Loan Officer position is a business development position responsible for identifying new customers and maintaining strong relationships with existing customers specifically in Wichita. Success in this position requires ability to work effectively in a fast paced, high production environment, while balancing internal origination expectations and customer expectations against the need to minimize lender risk by ensuring loans comply with policies and applicable regulatory guidelines.
Focus in soliciting, negotiating, underwriting, originating, and closing of commercial loans. Primary responsibilities include providing superior customer service, perform business development activities for relationship and portfolio management.
Foster and acquire new relationships with qualified borrowers through business development efforts.
Maintain high level of service and support to existing customers to maximize opportunities for repeat business.
Attend loan closings, industry events, and other opportunities for networking and business development. Professionally represents the Bank in various community and civic functions to further enhance the Banks image and develop additional business.
Manage the loan process from initial client contact through closing by means of effective communication with both internal and external customers and third-party relationships.
Performs pre-qualification assessment of applicants and obtains information regarding earnings and financial condition to evaluate the applicant`s creditworthiness, including the analysis of financial condition and if the risk of request is within the framework of Banks credit culture and current economic and industry trends.
Negotiates, underwrites and processes renewals and modifications of loans.
Approves loan payments, loan disbursements, and fund transfers within specified limits.
Develops and maintains knowledge of financial industry, economy, market conditions, rates, vendors and competition.
Reviews overdraft reports for customers assigned within the loan officers portfolio; approves or declines such exceptions within established limits.
Consistently applies superior decision-making techniques pertaining to inquiries, approval, and requests as they apply to existing policies and procedures.
Promotes and cross-sells other Bank products and services as appropriate to customer requirements.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief Credit Officer or Department Manager(s).
Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, Real Estate Accounting, Marketing, or related field required.
Minimum of five (5) to ten (10) years in Commercial Loan and Business Development.
