Job Description:

Prestigious San Francisco plaintiff personal injury boutique has full-time litigation paralegal position for individual with a minimum of five years experience in personal injury/medical malpractice/product liability litigation. Must have paralegal certificate from ABA-approved school, some knowledge of medical terminology and records, and expertise in responding to and managing discovery. Bilingual (English/Spanish speaking) required. Full benefits with competitive salary offered.

This employees primary duty is preparing responses to all discovery for attorney review and approval. This includes obtaining and organizing documents/information from clients and third parties as well as being familiar with entire file. Secondary duties include miscellaneous attorney support. Good conversational skills are a must. A background in reviewing medical records proves helpful and summarizing medical bills is necessary.

Essential Functions:


  • Review file and perform all work required to create draft responses to all discovery
  • Serve final discovery responses and forward to clients for verification
  • Obtain documents from clients to respond to discovery and support liability and damages claims
  • Communicate with secretaries regarding upcoming due dates and deadlines, and be aware of responsible attorneys availability for finalizing responses
  • Order records such as medical records, medical bills, police reports, etc.
  • Summarize medical records and bills
  • Under close guidance and supervision from attorney obtain lien information and provide notifications to all lien holders
  • Corporate searches for primary place of business
  • Obtain copies of articles/books from UCSF, SFGH, Stanford, online, etc.
  • Online searches for last known address of defendants
  • Organize & index medical records
  • Deposition summaries as requested
  • Attend defense medical examinations
  • Attend vehicle inspections
  • Upon settlement of a matter coordinate with secretaries working on the case, to contact all experts and vendors requesting that all outstanding invoicing be promptly emailed or faxed
  • Ensure that any last-minute costs are promptly approved, and Accounting are made aware to include such costs on the settlement statement

Job Requirements:

Looking for a seasoned paralegal, (5-10 years) ideal. Individuals with civil personal injury, wrongful death, product liability and medical malpractice backgrounds are most sought out. Ideally, candidates would have plaintiffs background. Must have paralegal certificate from ABA-approved school, some knowledge of medical terminology and records, and expertise in responding to and managing discovery. Bilingual (English/Spanish speaking) required.
