Description
The clinical research veterinarian will provide critical veterinary support to the veterinary service team and technical leadership for clinical studies conducted in BIVI facilities by the US based vaccine and pharmaceutical clinical research and development teams.
Primary responsibilities will be to provide high quality, hands on, medical and surgical care to multiple species of animals and conduct biological and pharmaceutical studies in multiple species of livestock, companion and laboratory animals.
As a technical leader in R&D the veterinarian must demonstrate significant and current scientific, technical and functional veterinary medical competency with "can do" approaches and insights that result in a competitive advantage in assessing biological and pharmaceutical leads, and in rapid experimental progress in new product research and development.
The veterinarian will also provide back up support to the site veterinarian in the care of quality control (Q/C) animals and in overall facility compliance with all regulatory guidelines.
The clinical veterinarian is a key leadership role within the department and the successful applicant must be action oriented.
It will be expected that the candidate supervise the conduct of clinical studies within BIVI research facilities and exhibit excellence in interpersonal relationships and scientific writing.
Requirements:
DVM from an AVMA accredited college of veterinary medicine, minimum of 2 years clinical experience.
More experienced applicants will also be considered.
Applicant must be eligible for licensure, accreditation, and DEA registration in Missouri and Iowa.
Demonstrated experience in a clinical research environment preferred.
