TITLE: Outreach Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Director of Education
STATUS: Non-Exempt/Part-time (approx. 25 hrs/week)
Provide educational support and implement recruitment efforts for vulnerable youth and their families within USD 383 and USD 320
Exercise considerable discretion and independent judgment in performance of duties.
KEY ROLES: (Essential Job Responsibilities)
Meet with appropriate school personnel to help identify additional vulnerable families in need and reach out to those families at their homes; create events and enrollment activities as necessary.
Help serve as a liaison to school district personnel in working with vulnerable youths parents who may need more support and help ensure kids attend Boys & Girls Club programming.
Program Development and Implementation:
Effectively implement and administer meaningful activities for vulnerable children and youth and their families to ensure specific needs and interests are being met.
Provide positive experiences they may not otherwise have an opportunity to experience.
Ensure that vulnerable children and youth feel they belong and are adapting to the local environment.
Provide materials to educate vulnerable families about services available to children at the Club.
Develop a collaborative partnership with USD 383 and USD 320 Social Workers, Counselors, families and community organizations.
Marketing and Public Relations
Identify and create opportunities to build awareness of Club services, programs and activities for vulnerable families.
Oversee proper record keeping and reporting, including activities and events conducted, breakdowns of participation figures, and any member conduct or other issues.
Ensure productive and effective performance and direct work of volunteers associated with your program areas of oversight.
May be required to drive Club van.
May be required to answer phones and perform other light administrative duties.
Other duties as assigned.
Internal: Maintain close contact with Club staff and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain or interpret guidelines/instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.
External: Maintain contact with parents or guardians in order to communicate about Club activities, explain or interpret Club guidelines, and address any conduct issues relative to members.
Initiate and maintain positive communication with school principals and classroom teachers.
- College degree or equivalent experience in Social Work or Counseling
- Experience working with children
- Knowledge of youth development
- Ability to plan and implement quality activities for youth & families
- Demonstrated ability to organize, direct and coordinate events
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and to develop solutions to problems with limited supervision.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with Families, appropriate School District Personnel, community groups, and other related agencies.
- Have valid State Drivers License
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- Considerable knowledge of the mission, objectives, policies, programs and procedures of Boys & Girls Clubs and principles and practices of non-profit organizations.
