Position Summary
Coordinates total nursing care for the peri-operative patient. Provides assessment, observation and direct care to the pre- and post-operative patients for which an anesthetic or sedation is used. Responsible for the general well-being of the patient during the peri-operative period, acts as the patient's advocate and works as a member of the surgical team, is knowledgeable in the areas of aseptic technique, infection control, emergency procedures, and general operating room procedures. Works with highly technical, ever-changing equipment.
Job Qualifications
Special Qualifications (licensure, registration, etc.)
1. Colorado RN license in good standing.
2. BLS certification required by end of conditional period..
3. Member of professional organization and CNOR preferred.
Knowledge, Skill and Ability
1. Clinical competency with routine surgical skills in circulating with scrubbing preferred.
2. Demonstrates assessment and response to changes in the patient's condition. (Basic understanding and integration of patient care and practice.)
3. Communicates clearly on all aspects of documentation.
4. Must be flexible to rotate shifts, assume call responsibilities, and adjust hours as needed.
5. Able to assess, treat and/or care for patients of all ages.
6. Demonstrates knowledge of and assists in preparation, maintenance, cleaning, sterilization and usage of equipment, instrumentation and supplies.
7. Prepares specimens and lab forms for laboratory analysis.
Experience
Minimum of one year OR circulating experience and scrub experience preferred.

Working Environment/Physical Activities
1. The employee must be able to consistently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 10 pounds, frequently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 30 pounds and occasionally support, push, pull and/or transfer up to 50 pounds (for example, moving a patient from a wheelchair to a bed).
2. Physical working environment may include, but not be limited to, any of the following hazards:
3. High-pressure steam, Explosive, Stress, Chemical, Glutaraldehyde, Radiation, Electrical, Body fluids, Smoke, Plume, Mechanical, Laser, Biowaste, Paracetic Acid, etc.
4. Environmental conditions may include, but not be limited to, variations in temperature, noise, odors, etc.
5. While performing duties of this job, the employee is required to constantly stand and walk.
6. The employee frequently is required to stoop, crouch and twist.
7. The employee is occasionally required to kneel, squat and sit.
8. Functional physical demands include manual dexterity, fine motor skills and reaching.
9. The following senses will be needed for essential duties of the job: speech, vision, hearing, smell and touch.
10. May have to work for more hours than scheduled on a day of call duty.
