Multiple openings for the role of “Director, HPC Engineering”, with Arrowstreet Capital, Limited Partnership (“Arrowstreet” or “ASC”), headquartered at 200 Clarendon Street, 30th Floor, Boston, MA 02116.Telecommuting benefit (i.e., work from home) available. In information technology (“IT”) roles like these, resources must be onsite, working at the above-named employer address and headquarters location, at least one day each week. Apart from this requirement, may telecommute and work remotely from home up to four days a week. Note it is currently permissible, however (due to various regulations and policies), to telecommute and work remotely from home in the following five states: Massachusetts; Rhode Island; New Hampshire; Connecticut; or Vermont. Such resources therefore must live in one of those five states. This is because, again, must work at least one day per week from within and as required to be at Arrowstreet’s Boston office (address given above), with remote work from a state specified allowable the remainder of the time. Traditional, job description reflects duties performed as follows: contribute to building technology, scalable systems and software applications to support the needs of Arrowstreet’s Research Systems Group; perform high-performance computing within a software development team, being responsible for simulation applications, as well as elastic and resilient computing environments. Scope of work spans relational databases, cloud data solutions, software engineering and application development, automation with shell scripting, and data analytics for reporting. Will also use technical skills, including regarding Amazon Web Services (“AWS”) and Microsoft SQL Server, in order to design and implement new solutions; contribute to strategy for continued transition to cloud-based operations on AWS for superior scalability and automation capabilities; perform multi-threading development, parallel processing, caching and application run-time optimization; develop new functionality for compute platform that provides critical processes applications to Arrowstreet’s Research Systems Group; build the platform to grow and stimulate high-availability and fault-tolerance capabilities, including an automatic detection feature, and the ability to programmatically switch services to live compute clusters; architect and develop enhanced capabilities for automatic output-storage provisioning on simulator system; develop system migration strategies; and work on new interface design and developing new capabilities for simulator system

They require a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in computer science, information technology, computer engineering, mathematics, or a related discipline. Also required are seven years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience, all specifically working with large-scale computer systems. This must include two years of the following as well (which may have been gained concurrently, i.e., obtained as part of the broader seven years needed): (a) applying compile- and run-time optimization techniques and parallelism in large-scale computing; (b) performing software architecture and object-oriented design and development using Python; (c) using Structured Query Language, AWS, and container technologies that include Kubernetes; and (d) performing continuous-integration and continuous-delivery services and techniques, specifically using Jenkins and Github.

May alternatively qualify with a Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in computer science, information technology, computer engineering, mathematics, or a related discipline. Where Master’s-qualified, one must also show four years of experience, all specifically working with large-scale computer systems. This, again, must include two years of the following as well (which may have been gained concurrently, i.e., obtained as part of the broader four years needed): (a) applying compile- and run-time optimization techniques and parallelism in large-scale computing; (b) performing software architecture and object-oriented design and development using Python; (c) using Structured Query Language, AWS, and container technologies that include Kubernetes; and (d) performing continuous-integration and continuous-delivery services and techniques, specifically using Jenkins and Github.
