Description

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Broker freight and negotiate rates for available trucks for Planning/DM team.
  2. Responsibility for freight/capacity variance management
  3. Pivotal link between ASL Planner/DMs, CSRs, AML Planners and AML Sales.
  4. Fulfill freight needs of all ASL trucks while honoring backhaul customer commitments
  5. Respond to customer and ASL operational needs by answering e-mails, phone calls, and verbal communication to all ASL team members
  6. Prepare reports for internal distribution
  7. Ensure customer commitments and expectations are met
  8. Utilize customer website for load acceptance and other communication
  9. Coordinate with Planner/DMs & CSRs to manage for on-time delivery compliance
  10. Provide coverage for other team members when out of office
  11. Maintain working relationships with customers and co-workers to facilitate the functions of transportation
  12. Ensure maximum utilization of all ASL trucks

Marginal Job Functions:
  1. Ability to perform duties with minimal direction.
  2. Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  1. High School Diploma/GED required.
  2. Strong analytical organizational and problem-solving skills.
  3. Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interface with all levels internally and externally.
  4. Previous dispatch or load planner experience preferred.
  5. Strong geographical knowledge of the United States is a must.
  6. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related tools are required.
  7. Experience with other applications including transportation management systems (Lean Logistics, Innovative, and PeopleNet) preferred.
  8. Knowledge of FMCSA regulations required.
  9. Professional email and phone etiquette.
  10. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
  11. Ability to multi task
  12. Must communicate effectively and work well in a team atmosphere

Legal/ADA Considerations: Normal office environment. Occasional overnight travel by surface or air. Extended work hours.
