Essential Job Functions:

  1. Assume responsibility for load planning, optimization, and scheduling of all loads.

  2. Pivotal link between driver managers, scheduling and transportation.

  3. Assign loads to trucks, following the companys policy on planning requirements.

  4. Respond to customer and operational needs by answering e-mails, phone calls, tracking shipments, and moving shipments

  5. Prepare reports for internal distribution

  6. Provide load exception investigation and reporting

  7. Utilize customer or consignee website for appointments

  8. Coordinate with driver managers to ensure on-time delivery by estimating times of arrival and delivery, and recovering loads when necessary.

  9. Maintain working relationships with customers and co-workers to facilitate the functions of transportation

  10. Ensure maximum utilization of driver hours

Marginal Job Functions:

  1. Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

  1. Strong analytical organizational and problem solving skills.

  2. Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interface with all levels of internal and external personnel.

  3. Previous dispatch or load planner experience preferred.

  4. Strong geographical knowledge of the United States is a must.

  5. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related tools are required.

  6. Experience with other applications including transportation management systems (Lean Logistics, Innovative, and PeopleNet) preferred.

  7. Knowledge of FMCSA regulations required.

  8. Professional email and phone etiquette.

  9. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.

  10. Ability to multi task

  11. Must be fair and consistent when assigning loads
