DACCO

HISTORY

In the mid 1960's, an Ohio businessman named Jim Hall recognized the need for an alternative to expensive original equipment torque converters. A small workbench operation grew as Hall explored converter remanufacturing. Realizing the potential for this new product, Hall purchased a manufacturing facility in Dayton, Ohio to acquire the tooling necessary to begin production. Thus the Dayton Air Compressor Company became known as DACCO, Incorporated.

In 1971, DACCO relocated to a ground-up rebuilding plant in Cookeville, Tennessee. From our thirty employees and two delivery trucks, the company continued to expand. In 1972, DACCO revolutionized the aftermarket by creating an outside sales force that not only sold DACCO converters but delivered them throughout the country via company owned tractor-trailers. This bold move began the expansion of the DACCO distributor network across America.

DACCO opened its first full line transmission parts location in Columbus, Ohio in 1977. During the late 1970's and 1980's, DACCO continued to expand our store network through a combination of acquisitions and planned organic growth.

The company continued to grow its distribution reach during the 1990's, reaching our current apex of over 150 DACCO distributors and over 50 company owned DACCO Transmission Parts locations. Through nearly four decades in business, DACCO remains the largest remanufacturer of torque converters in the United States.

CURRENT STATE

Since DACCO's beginning in 1965 as the first volume remanufacturer of torque converters, the company has experienced phenomenal growth and change. A privately held firm, DACCO was purchased in 1988 by Jordan Industries, a diversified holding company. Since that purchase, DACCO's distribution network has continued to grow throughout North America and abroad.

DACCO's primary manufacturing facility is located in Cookeville, Tennessee. This plant produces DACCO remanufactured torque converters, Performance Plus stall converters, Performance Racing Products & Components, Heavy Duty Converters, and also remanufactures and rebuilds hard parts. The company's extensive transmission tear down operation is based in Cookeville, as are DACCO's central distribution centers for converters, hard parts, and soft parts. Custom remanufacturing capabilities for all types of torque converters are available there as well.

DACCO's sales team of over 40 representatives supports more than 150 DACCO distributors throughout North America and abroad. The company's 50 DACCO Transmission Parts stores provide local, full line product availability to thousands of transmission repair facilities across the United States
